Djibouti, 22 September 2025 – Two armed suspects were arrested a few hours after robbing a bank in Djibouti City, the Office of the Public Prosecutor said
The suspects entered the bank at around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, after the employees opened its doors for business.
Both staff and customers were caught unawares and left shaken in the early morning raid. Armed and dangerous, the robbers faced little resistance and made away with the loot.
Police forces, alerted to the incident, launched a swift operation which resulted in the arrest of the two suspects and the recovery of the stolen funds, a few hours after the incident.
The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed no casualties occurred in the incident, adding that the stolen money had been recovered, though the exact amount was not disclosed.
The Office further stated that investigations were underway, adding that all those involved will be prosecuted.
“Anyone, whether directly or indirectly involved in this act, will be prosecuted in accordance with the law,” the statement said.
The Office cautioned against the spread of misinformation, emphasizing that only information shared by the government should be considered credible, promising to give further updates on the progress of the investigations.
