DJIBOUTI, 17 October 2026 The Saint Kitts and Nevis-registered M/T Solas 7 oil tanker has resumed its commercial voyages after completing maintenance in Djibouti in nine days, compared with the 12 days initially scheduled.
The information was reported Friday by the state-owned media, Djibouti News Agency.
The maintenance involved a series of technical operations related to safety, the preservation of the vessel's components and improvements to its operating systems, all essential to preparing the tanker for new voyages.
During the maintenance period, the gas discharge system was inspected, while the vessel's lower sections were treated and protected against corrosion. The propeller was also cleaned, polished and repainted. In addition, the cooling water line was repaired to ensure consistent water pressure.

Other work included wastewater treatment, the replacement and welding of steel plates, and the cleaning of underwater sections of the vessel. The spare anchor and floating pipes were also cleaned and repainted, while the vessel's identification markings were renewed.
Once the maintenance work was completed, the entire crew was on board and ready for departure. A Djiboutian pilot then guided the vessel into open waters, allowing it to resume its commercial operations.
Completing the maintenance three days ahead of schedule highlights the efficiency of the technical teams involved and the speed with which the work was carried out. It also underscores Djibouti's role in providing maintenance and technical support services to vessels operating along the region's commercial shipping routes.
The agency's report did not specify the tanker's next destination or the type of cargo it will carry.
