Baidoa (Dawan Africa) – Ninety-five members of the South West State assembly were sworn in today during a ceremony in Baidoa.
The event was attended by the Acting President of South West State, Jibril Abdirashid Haji, and the South West State presidential candidate, Sheikh Aadan Nur ‘Madobe'.
Haji congratulated the electoral commission for holding successful elections that reflected the will of the people.
"I extend my gratitude to the electoral commission and all participants for their dedication to ensuring a smooth swearing-in process. I pray that the responsibilities entrusted to these members are carried out faithfully and in line with their mandate,” he said.

Presidential candidate Aadan Madobe also spoke on the significance of the swearing-in and public participation.
"I commend the participation of the public and the orderly conduct of the elections. I urge the newly sworn-in members to diligently fulfill their duties and represent the will of the South West State community," Madobe said.
The swearing-in follows the elections held on May 10, with the National Independent Electoral Commission releasing the list of winning candidates. Today’s ceremony means South West State assembly is now fully constituted.
The lawmakers are expected to commence their legislative work in accordance with the constitution and national electoral laws.
