HARGEISA, Somalia, 3 October 2026 — Somaliland runner Fu’aad Siciid won the fourth Hargeisa International Half Marathon on Friday, after finishing second in the previous edition.
The 21-kilometre race, organised by the Somaliland Athletics Federation and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, ran from Royal Plaza Hotel to Hargeisa Stadium.
Athletes from Somaliland and five African countries took part: Ethiopia, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of the Congo and Angola, according to the Somaliland Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The event also included a five-kilometre women’s race with around 30 runners, according to organisers.
Youth and Sports Minister Ahmed-Yasin Mohamed Farah congratulated all athletes who took part and described Fu’aad’s victory as a victory for Somaliland. He encouraged young people in Somaliland to develop their talents, saying athletics was among the areas where they could showcase their abilities and compete internationally.
Security personnel were deployed along the 21-kilometre route, with traffic restricted during the race.
