Hargeisa, 14 Oct. 2025 — Somaliland’s President, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi “Cirro,” has returned from his longest official visit to a foreign country since taking office.
The President spent 17 days in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking this trip as his most extended visit to date. In total, his three official trips to the UAE have accumulated 26 days within less than a year in office.
During his stay, which began on September 25, President Cirro attended the Africa Debate Forum held in Dubai. He also met with Somaliland business leaders and members of the diaspora community in the UAE, discussing ways to strengthen trade and investment cooperation and encouraging diaspora participation in the country’s development projects.
DP World, one of the UAE’s largest global companies, is among the key investors operating in Somaliland, particularly in port development and logistics.
According to a statement from the Somaliland Presidency, the visit aimed to reinforce Somaliland’s diplomatic relations and expand international partnerships.
The President’s frequent visits to the UAE highlight Somaliland’s ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment, deepen international cooperation, and strengthen ties with Gulf countries — particularly the United Arab Emirates, which remains one of Somaliland’s most significant trade and development partners.
