Burao (Dawan Africa) – Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi “Irro” has endorsed U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, praising his efforts to address global conflicts and urging Washington to extend recognition to Somaliland.
Speaking at a graduation ceremony in Burao on Friday, Irro commended Trump for what he described as unprecedented courage in tackling issues previous U.S. leaders avoided.
“I sincerely thank the President of the United States for having the courage to address matters that his predecessors never dared to touch, extending his voice as far as Somaliland,” Irro told the gathering. “I can do no less than pledge my own support by calling for him to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Today he is attempting to bring an end to conflicts across the world — from Ukraine to Gaza and beyond. I believe, God willing, that he will also find the courage to recognize Somaliland.”
Somaliland, which declared independence from Somalia in 1991, has maintained its own government and institutions but remains internationally unrecognized. Leaders in Hargeisa have increasingly sought support from the United States and other global powers to advance their recognition agenda.
