Hargeisa, 31 August 2026 Somaliland's National Disaster Preparedness and Food Reserve Authority (NADFOR) has distributed food assistance to 1,306 vulnerable families in Hargeisa, the authority said, as part of a relief programme supported by Saudi Arabia.
The assistance was provided in cooperation with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, targeting low-income families and people with disabilities in the Somaliland capital, according to NADFOR.
Mustafa Abdullahi Hashi, director of NADFOR's relief department, said the distribution was part of food assistance provided by Saudi Arabia to vulnerable communities across Somaliland.
He said the latest distribution was intended to support low-income families and other vulnerable groups in Hargeisa.
Nimcan Mahmoud Mohamed Hayre, NADFOR's coordinator for the Maroodijeex region, said the programme was part of emergency relief efforts aimed at supporting people in need.

"Today we are distributing food assistance to 1,306 families in the capital who are in need," Hayre said.
Hayre said 300 families were receiving food assistance at the distribution site, while the wider programme covered 1,306 families in Hargeisa.
He thanked NADFOR officials and the Somaliland administration for supporting vulnerable communities, and expressed appreciation to Saudi Arabia and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre for providing the assistance.
The distribution forms part of NADFOR's efforts to provide emergency assistance to vulnerable communities in Somaliland, according to the authority.
