Somalia, 30 October 2025 - South West State has launched a digital health partnership program aimed at delivering affordable healthcare services to vulnerable communities.
The program includes ThinkMD, a global company specializing in digital health solutions, and the strategic advisory firm Cleanport Ventures.
The partnership is the first-ever state-level digital health initiative in Somalia, introducing innovative medical tools designed to strengthen the capacity of healthcare workers, enhance disease diagnosis, improve health data collection, and expand patient care across remote areas of South West State.
According to the State's Health Ministry, Cleanport Ventures will oversee the implementation, training, and monitoring of the program, while ThinkMD will adapt its platform to Somalia’s healthcare standards, languages, and data systems. The Health Ministry will provide leadership, coordination, and integration with state health priorities.
Under the initiative, Clinical Decision Support (CDS) tool, developed by ThinkMD, that “thinks like a doctor,” will guide nurses and community health workers, using World Health Organization-aligned protocols, to deliver consistent, evidence-based care.
“This is not just a technology project — it’s a major leap forward in how healthcare is managed and supported in South West State,” said Anthony Woodland, Cleanport Ventures Chief Operations Officer.
“Together with ThinkMD and the Ministry of Health, we are laying the foundation for a connected, modern, intelligent, and equitable healthcare system,” he added.
“This partnership reflects the commitment of South West State to promote innovation and strengthen the capabilities of its frontline health workforce,” said an official from the Ministry of Health.
The first phase of the program includes digital training, establishment of a health data management system, and the development of a real-time reporting mechanism that will be deployed across both public and selected private healthcare facilities.
