MOGADISHU, Somalia, 19 October 2026 — Members of the Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP) have confirmed to Dawan that Senator Abdiwali Garyare is the party’s candidate for deputy leader of Galmudug State.
The confirmation comes amid conflicting reports over who is officially representing JSP for the deputy leader seat. The ruling party had earlier confirmed Liban Ahmed Hassan as its flag bearer for the Galmudug leader seat.
According to the Independent Electoral Commission, elections for the leadership and deputy leadership of Galmudug are scheduled for October 22.
Meanwhile, the Galmudug House of Representatives elected Hussein Mohamed Nur Mohamed as its speaker on Monday.
