Somalia, Aug. 14, 2026 – Somalia's National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), working with international partners, said on Friday that two Al-Shabaab commanders and seven members of a local militia were killed in an operation in Middle Shabelle.
NISA said the operation took place in Warciise, about 25 km from Jowhar, and targeted a gathering involving Al-Shabaab commanders.
The two commanders killed were identified by NISA as Ahmed Ali Jim’ale, whom the agency described as a senior al-Shabaab commander in the Jowhar area, and Geedi Mohamed Nor Adde, whom it described as a commander responsible for the Dumaaye and Dabagaalo areas.
NISA said the two commanders had been under surveillance and intelligence monitoring before the operation was carried out.

The agency also said seven other members killed in the complex operation belonged to the local "xisbada" militia.
NISA said the operation was conducted after intelligence indicated that al-Shabaab commanders were holding a meeting in the area.
The agency described the operation as a successful strike against Al-Shabaab's leadership and said it was part of wider efforts to weaken the group's operational capabilities and disrupt its networks.
