Sudan, 13 August 2026 – Somalia's new ambassador to Sudan Ahmed Jama Omar presented his credentials to Sudanese leader General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan at a ceremony in Khartoum, the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) reported on Thursday.
The ceremony was held at the presidential palace in the Sudanese capital and was attended by Sudan's Foreign Minister Mohyieddin Salem, according to SUNA.
Omar conveyed greetings to Burhan from Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and expressed wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the Sudanese people.
The Somali ambassador reaffirmed Somalia's position in support of Sudan's security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying Somalia stood with the Sudanese people as they face ongoing challenges.

The appointment comes as Somalia and Sudan continue to maintain diplomatic and security ties.
Sudan's Director General of Intelligence, General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, visited Mogadishu on Tuesday in an unannounced visit, where he held talks with Somali officials. The visit was part of broader cooperation between the two countries, particularly in security and intelligence matters.
The presentation of credentials marks the formal start of Omar's diplomatic mission as Somalia's ambassador to Sudan.
