MOGADISHU (Dawan) – July 25, 2026 – Somalia’s National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC) has announced the official timetable for the Hirshabelle State elections, setting August 20 as polling day for elections to the regional House of Representatives and local councils.
According to the schedule, candidate registration and submission of nomination documents will begin on August 5.
Verification of candidates’ eligibility and allocation of constituencies will take place on August 7, followed by the publication of the preliminary list of candidates on August 8.
Political parties are required to submit the names of their representatives at polling stations by August 11.

The commission will review and verify the final lists of candidates for the House of Representatives and local councils by August 15, before publishing the official list of approved candidates on August 16.
The list of political party observers will be released on August 18, ahead of voting on August 20, in accordance with the announced electoral calendar.
The commission said the timetable forms part of preparations for the Hirshabelle elections under the approved electoral process.
