MOGADISHU, 20 October 2026 — Somalia’s Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission has officially announced the list of candidates contesting the positions of leader and deputy leader of Galmudug State.
In a statement issued on 20 October 2026, the commission said the candidates contesting the two positions represent the Sincad and Justice and Solidarity political parties.
The candidates running for the leader of Galmudug are Abdulqadir Abdullahi Dirie, representing the Sincad party, and Liban Ahmed Hassan, representing the Justice and Solidarity party.
Meanwhile, Abdisatar Mohamed Geelle, representing Sincad, and Abdiwali Ibrahim Adan, representing Justice and Solidarity, are contesting the position of deputy leader.
The election for leader and deputy leader of Galmudug is scheduled to take place on 22 October, with the outcome expected to determine the state’s new leadership.
