Doha, 31 August 2026 Somalia and Yemen discussed strengthening security cooperation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden during meetings in Doha, Yemen's Foreign Ministry said.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali held separate talks on Sunday with Yemen's Foreign Minister Afrah al-Zouba, the ministry said in a statement.
The meetings focused on bilateral relations, regional developments and issues of common interest.
Yemen reaffirmed its support for Somalia's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity and rejected any measures that could undermine its unity or constitute interference in its internal affairs, according the ministry.
Al-Zouba said stability in Yemen and Somalia was important for security in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and Horn of Africa.

The two sides also discussed maritime security and the need for greater coordination among countries bordering the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden to protect shipping.
Talks also covered efforts to combat terrorism, human trafficking, piracy and other cross-border threats, as well as expanding cooperation in political, economic, trade and development fields, the ministry said.
The countries stressed the importance of maintaining communication between their foreign ministries and increasing exchanges of visits and expertise.
Somalia and Yemen share longstanding social, commercial and historical ties and common interests in the security of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
