SOMALIA (Dawan Africa) Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Türkiye’s Ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktaş, discussed bilateral relations, regional developments and ongoing strategic cooperation during a meeting at the presidential palace in Mogadishu on Saturday.
According to Villa Somalia, the Turkish ambassador paid a courtesy visit to the president, where discussions focused on the strategic partnership between the two countries and issues of mutual regional and international interest.
The presidency said President Hassan Sheikh expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s continued support for Somalia’s state-building, security and development efforts.

Türkiye remains one of Somalia’s closest international partners and has been involved in major infrastructure, education, health and security projects across the country for more than a decade.
Ankara has also provided military training and support to Somali security forces as part of broader defense cooperation between the two countries.
Somalia and Türkiye have further strengthened diplomatic, economic and defense ties in recent years through a series of cooperation and investment agreements.
