Somalia, Aug. 13, 2026 – Somalia will announce the results of its high school examinations on Aug. 15, Minister of Education Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir said during a national education consultation meeting on Thursday.
A total of 44,136 students sat the 2025/2026 Grade 12 national examinations, which were conducted in 58 districts and 158 examination centres, according to figures released during the examination period.
The number of candidates was more than 5,000 higher than the previous academic year, according to the Ministry of Education.
Abdulkadir said the examination results would be announced on Saturday, Aug. 15.
The minister said Somalia's education system had made progress in recent years, with the government establishing public schools, a national education system, a government curriculum and state-administered examinations.
He said the sector had reached a stage where greater attention should now be given to accountability, implementation and the quality of education.

Abdulkadir stressed that education was a long-term process requiring sustained investment and oversight rather than a short-term government programme.
He also called for greater attention to what students learn in schools, saying schools should provide academic education while also promoting good behaviour and a positive learning environment.
The minister said the government would place greater emphasis this year on monitoring schools and assessing their learning environment, infrastructure and equipment.
Inspection teams will be sent to schools to assess their condition, he said, adding that schools that fail to meet required standards could be closed, whether publicly or privately operated.
Abdulkadir also urged education officials to improve cleanliness and maintain school buildings and facilities, saying schools should provide students with a safe and suitable environment for learning.
He said the ministry's focus should shift from simply expanding the number of schools and buildings to ensuring that existing facilities are properly maintained and provide quality education.
