Beijing, 18 September 2025 — Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, is attending the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, an international Defence conference bringing together delegates from more than 100 countries.
The three-day event, running from 17 to 19 September in the Chinese capital, gathers defence ministers, senior military officials, security experts, and international organisations to discuss global security challenges and cooperation.
This year’s theme is “Upholding International Order and Promoting Peaceful Development.”
The forum opens just two weeks after China held a massive military parade on 3 September to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II, referred to by China as the World Anti-Fascist War.
Over 1,800 delegates from more than 100 countries and regions are attending the event, including 40 defence ministers and military chiefs, as well as senior representatives from the United Nations, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The Xiangshan Forum, established in 2006 has evolved into a prominent international platform for defense and security.
