Somalia (Dawan Africa), 5 June 2026 – Somalia’s Federal Government said armed violence in Mogadishu was unlawful and served the interests of both internal and external enemies, following the conclusion of a 48-hour security operation in the capital.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Information said security forces had conducted an operation targeting armed groups accused of entering residential neighbourhoods and attacking police officers and civilians with heavy weapons.
“The Federal Government of Somalia considers such acts unacceptable, unlawful, and serving the interests of internal and external enemies,” the ministry said.
The government stressed that the carrying of weapons is legally restricted to authorized security institutions, adding that armed militias and the possession of illegal weapons would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
