MOGADISHU, 30 September 2026 The Somali government on Wednesday repatriated 160 Somali nationals who had been living in Yemen for an extended period, following the impact of insecurity and conflict in the country on the lives of Somalis residing there.
Among those repatriated are 59 women and children. Some had lived in Yemen for decades, while others were born there and are visiting Somalia for the first time.
The repatriation was carried out in cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The move is part of ongoing efforts to repatriate Somali nationals living in countries affected by conflict and difficult security conditions.
