Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) — Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud bid farewell to outgoing European Union Ambassador to Somalia Francesca Di Mauro in Mogadishu on Tuesday.
During the farewell meeting held at Villa Somalia, the President commended Ambassador Di Mauro for her role in strengthening relations between Somalia and the European Union in security, state-building, economic development and humanitarian affairs.
Francesca Di Mauro officially began her duties as the European Union Ambassador to Somalia on 3 September 2025, when she presented her ambassadorial credentials to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud during a meeting at the National Presidential Palace. At the time, the European Union stated that her mandate would focus on further strengthening cooperation and the strategic partnership between Somalia and the EU.
