MOGADISHU, 2 October 2026 The Somali government is working on plans to establish a ‘One-Stop Shop’, a central government service centre designed to bring together services currently provided by different public institutions.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, speaking about the initiative on the Miizaan Podcast, broadcast by Dawan, said the government wants to make it easier for citizens to access public services without having to travel between multiple government offices.
“We want government services that are currently located in different parts of the city to be brought together in one place, with one director, so that a person can obtain everything they need in a single day,” the prime minister said.
According to the prime minister, citizens seeking services such as passports, certificates, NIRA registration and business licences would eventually be able to access them at the same centre rather than visiting different government institutions.
The initiative is intended to simplify access to government services and reduce the time and costs citizens face when completing administrative procedures.

“A person could get their passport, obtain a certificate, register with NIRA, receive their business licence and complete everything else in one day,” Hamza said, outlining the planned system.
The prime minister said that a director for the centre has been appointed, while training is under way for the government agencies and personnel expected to provide services through the facility.
The centre is planned to operate from an office designated for the prime minister’s work near Mogadishu’s football stadium.
If implemented, the ‘One-Stop Shop’ would change how citizens access a range of government services by bringing services currently handled by separate institutions together under one roof.
