Mogadishu, 25 August 2026 Somalia's National Refugee and IDP Agency has opened a health centre in Mogadishu for returnees, particularly vulnerable people and those requiring urgent care.
The centre, at a facility that receives refugees, migrants and Somali returnees, will provide examinations, treatment and emergency services, the agency said on Monday.
Doctors and nurses will staff the centre, chairman Liban Abdi Egal said.
The Private Hospitals Association and Somali Pharmaceutical Traders Association donated more than 250,000 units of medicine to help meet returnees' health needs, the agency said.

The groups helped equip the centre with examination areas and a pharmacy after assessing its needs, said Mohamed Abdullahi Issa of the Private Hospitals Association and Dr. Warsame Mohamud of the pharmaceutical traders.
Egal said the centre would serve returnees including those with physical or mental health needs.
"Somalis should be self-reliant, and it is important to give special support to vulnerable people," he said.
The Somali Medical Association head and officials from Somali Sudanese Hospital attended the opening, the agency said.
