Somalia, 21 April 2026 - Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre laid the foundation stone for a national curriculum development centre to modernize Somalia’s education system, the Ministry of Education said in a statement Tuesday.
Barre said education reform remains a key priority for the government, emphasizing the importance of strengthening curriculum development.
“A quality curriculum is the foundation of education. This centre will serve as a key institution for developing the knowledge of future generations,” he said.

The government said the project forms part of broader efforts to upgrade public services, particularly education, and build a skilled population capable of adapting to modern demands.
Barre also said the government plans to rebuild public institutions and called on citizens to vacate state-owned properties to allow their use for public benefit.
