Nairobi(Mogadishu24)-Somalia and Kenya have marked a new chapter in their bilateral relations by signing multiple agreements during the third session of the Somalia-Kenya Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC) in Nairobi. These agreements cover a broad spectrum of sectors including foreign relations, security, economy, trade, education, and social services.
The session was led by H.E Ahmed Ma’alim Fiqi, Somalia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, and his Kenyan counterpart, H.E Musalia Mudavadi, Cabinet Secretary of Foreign Affairs. Their collaboration underscored the mutual commitment to strengthening ties and enhancing regional stability.
A notable highlight of the session was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Education, Training, and Research. This MoU, inked by Somalia’s Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education, H.E Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, and Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Education, H.E Ezekiel Machogu, aimed to boost educational cooperation between the two countries.
"These bilateral pacts laid the groundwork for the official visit of Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hamza Abdi Barre, to Kenya. The visit is poised to deepen mutual cooperation between the two nations across areas of shared interest", Office of the Somali Prime Minister said in a statement.
