Somalia Joins International Atomic Energy Agency, Marking a New Era of Nuclear Cooperation

Vienna, Austria (Mogadishu24)– Somalia has officially become the newest member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), following its acceptance at the 68th IAEA conference in Vienna Monday. This significant milestone underscores Somalia's commitment to the peaceful use of nuclear energy and sustainable development.

"Today, Somalia has officially become a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency. We are committed to promoting the peaceful use of nuclear energy," said Abdirizak Omar Mohamed, Somalia's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

This membership marks a new chapter in Somalia’s engagement with global nuclear initiatives and signals its dedication to leveraging nuclear technology for development and energy solutions.
