Somalia, July 7, 2026 – Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Abdulfatah Qasim Mohamud, hosted Italian Ambassador Pier Mario Daccò Coppi in Mogadishu on Tuesday to discuss expanding cooperation in media, cultural exchange, and tourism development, according to Somalia’s National TV.
During the visit, the Somali minister and the Italian ambassador toured the National Theatre, the government broadcasting departments, and the Radio Mogadishu archives to observe ongoing operations and discuss ways to enhance institutional capacity.
Officials discussed reviving Italian language programming on Radio Mogadishu, developing film and media production, and promoting cultural exchanges aimed at strengthening ties between Somalia and Italy. The meeting also explored training opportunities for Somali media professionals and joint projects to support tourism initiatives.
