Egypt, July 19 2026 – Somalia's Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali met in Cairo on Sunday with Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump on Arab and African Affairs, to discuss bilateral relations, security cooperation and developments in the Horn of Africa, the Foreign Ministry said.
According to the ministry, the two sides discussed strengthening relations between Somalia and the United States, reaffirmed support for Somalia's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and reviewed ways to deepen cooperation on counterterrorism and security.
The meeting also covered opportunities to expand economic cooperation and investment between the two countries, the ministry said.

Officials exchanged views on regional developments, including security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, as well as the role of the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) in supporting Somalia's security priorities.
The talks come as Somalia continues to work with international partners to combat Al-Shabaab while seeking greater foreign investment and broader international support for security and state-building efforts.
The United States has been one of Somalia's principal security partners, providing military assistance, training and support for counterterrorism operations against Al-Shabaab, alongside humanitarian and development assistance.
