Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – Somalia's interior minister Abdullahi Ismail Fartaag and a delegation from the European Union Capacity Building Mission in Somalia (EUCAP Somalia) met in Mogadishu on Tuesday discuss accelerating support for Somali police and coast guard.
According to the ministry, the meeting reviewed technical support and training provided by EUCAP to Somalia’s security institutions, particularly the Somali Police Force, the darwish forces, and the coast guard.
The two sides also discussed EUCAP Somalia’s strategy and ways to align security assistance with the priorities of th federal government.

Fartaag emphasized the importance of coordination and government ownership of efforts aimed at supporting the country’s security institutions.
For his part, the head of the delegation, Kestutis Lancinskas, reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to continue supporting Somalia’s peacebuilding process.
The two sides agreed to hold a technical meeting to review the EUCAP Somalia’s strategy and strengthen security cooperation.
