17 August 2026 - The Somali Embassy in Kenya has completed the second phase of a project to modernise its technology infrastructure as part of efforts to improve efficiency and service delivery to Somali citizens.
The project, implemented by Moonlight Technologies, involved upgrading the embassy’s primary server room and installing corporate-grade technology, including Cisco routers, managed switches and advanced wireless access points.
Somali Ambassador to Kenya Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle officially received the equipment and the completed second phase of the project from the chief executive officer of Moonlight Technologies.
The first phase involved restructuring and replacing the embassy’s internet connection, fibre-optic and structured cabling, upgrading CCTV systems and artificial intelligence technology, as well as renovating and reorganising the server room.
The latest upgrades are expected to improve the speed, stability, reliability and security of the embassy’s network while allowing it to expand its systems as its technological needs grow.
The embassy said the modernisation would help streamline its daily operations and strengthen its capacity to provide services to Somalis living in Kenya.
“This modernization is important for streamlining the Embassy’s daily operations, as it provides a network system that is fast, more secure, stable, reliable, and easily scalable in the future,” the embassy said.
The mission also thanked Moonlight Technologies for supporting the project and contributing to the development of its digital infrastructure.
The embassy said the investment was part of broader efforts to improve the work systems and service delivery of institutions of the Federal Government of Somalia.
The upgraded infrastructure is expected to support communication, data management, security and other core operations at the diplomatic mission, while providing a foundation for future technological improvements.
The project also reflects the growing importance of secure and reliable digital systems in the operations of diplomatic missions, particularly in managing information and delivering services to citizens.
