Somalia, 26 May 2026 Somalia’s electoral commission has published the official list of candidates elected to South West State assembly.
The publication follows the Supreme Court’s decision to formally approve the results of the May 10 elections for South West State’s local councils and parliament.
In a statement dated May 25, the commission said the published list includes candidates who won seats in the new South West State assembly.
The commission announced 92 members of the South West State assembly, with three seats still pending. It ordered parties that won those seats to submit names as soon as possible.

According to the official list, 76 of the 92 published members are men, while 16 are women. The figures mean men account for about 82.6% of the announced members, while women represent about 17.4%.
The South West State elections were held across 13 districts in Bay, Bakool and Lower Shabelle. Previously released figures showed that 132,430 voters took part in the vote.
The ruling Justice and Solidarity Party won the largest number of seats, making it the most influential political group in the new South West State assembly.
