Galmudug, (Dawan), July 24, 2026 – The Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission has delivered ballots and other election materials to Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug State, ahead of the July 30 one-person, one-vote election.
Commission Chairman Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan, speaking at Dhusamareb Airport, said the materials would be distributed to the districts and other areas of Galmudug where voting will take place.
He said the election would be conducted at 240 polling stations, adding that the commission was prepared to hold a transparent and peaceful electoral process.
“Today, we have received the final batch of equipment for the election that will take place across Galmudug,” the chairman said.

Hassan said more than 200,000 registered voters were expected to participate in the election and choose their representatives for the local councils and the Galmudug House of Representatives.
The electoral commission also said most of the election materials had already reached the designated areas, while the remaining supplies would be transported by road from distribution centres in Dhusamareb and Galkayo.
According to the commission, 35 political organisations will participate in the election, as campaigning continues in different parts of Galmudug.
