Somalia, July 8, 2026 – Somalia's National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC) has cleared 35 political parties to contest upcoming local council elections in Galmudug state.
The commission on Wednesday published the official list of eligible political parties, saying the groups had fulfilled the legal and procedural requirements needed to participate in the local government elections planned for Galmudug.
The commission said the list was released in accordance with Somalia's electoral laws and regulations governing the registration and participation of political parties.
