Somalia, 2 July 2026 – Somalia’s election commission set July 20, 2026, for the Galmudug regional election, saying 215,860 voters have registered.
The commission said the registered voters are spread across the two regions that make up Galmudug state, Mudug and Galgadud, following a voter registration exercise carried out as part of preparations for the election.
According to figures released by the commission, 116,590 registered voters are from Mudug region, while 99,270 are from Galgadud.
The electoral body said 117,305 of registered voters, or 54.38%, are men, while 98,555, or 45.62%, are women.
The commission also said the registration exercise covered the two regions and recorded 1,633 polling centres or registration locations.

The commission also published an electoral timetable outlining key stages of the process, including voter awareness campaigns, voter card distribution, candidate registration and dispute resolution.
Under the schedule, civic awareness activities are set to begin on July 10, while registration and distribution of voter cards will continue through mid-July.
Voting for the Galmudug regional election is scheduled for July 20.
Galmudug will be the third region where Somalia’s election commission has conducted direct elections, following earlier polls held in Banadir and South West state.
