MOGADISHU, Somalia, September 30, 2026 - Somalia and Egypt discussed strengthening cooperation in investment, trade and economic development during a meeting between Somalia's investment authority chief and Egypt's ambassador to Somalia, the Somali Investment Authority said on Wednesday.
Feysal Adan Hassan, director general of the Somali Investment Authority, met Egyptian Ambassador Mohamed Salah Keshtah in Mogadishu, with the two officials discussing opportunities to expand economic and investment ties between the two countries.
The meeting also focused on the Alamein Africa Business Forum, which is scheduled to take place in Egypt's Alamein city from Oct. 2 to Oct. 4, including Somalia's participation and the potential role of the Somali Investment Authority at the forum.
Hassan and Keshtah also discussed developing strategic cooperation between the Somali Investment Authority and Egypt's General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), with the aim of strengthening institutional links between the two countries' investment agencies.

The two sides identified agriculture, livestock, fisheries, construction, transport, financial services, banking and energy among sectors with potential for increased economic cooperation, according to the authority.
The meeting was part of efforts to strengthen economic and investment relations between Somalia and Egypt and to promote greater cooperation between their investment institutions, the authority said.
