Somalia, 4 July 2026 – Somalia has congratulated the United States on the 250th anniversary of its independence, reaffirming longstanding ties between the two countries.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Somalia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry extended congratulations to the U.S. government and people on the historic occasion.
The ministry said Somalia values the longstanding friendship between the two countries and expressed hopes for continued peace, prosperity and success for the United States.

Somalia and the United States maintain close ties across security, counterterrorism, development and humanitarian cooperation, with Washington remaining one of Mogadishu’s key international partners.
The United States has played a major role in supporting Somalia’s state-building efforts, humanitarian assistance and security operations, particularly in the fight against militant groups including Al Shabaab.
Officials said the statement reflects the continued importance of Somalia-U.S. relations in the Horn of Africa region.
