Mogadishu, 30 August 2026 Somalia's intelligence agency says Al-Shabaab's intelligence chief was killed in an airstrike last week.
Abdullahi Hashi Labajir, known as Ikhlas, was killed Aug. 23 in Jilib district, Middle Juba, the National Intelligence and Security Agency said on Sunday.
The strike was a planned operation carried out with international partners, NISA said.

Ikhlas had been Al-Shabaab's intelligence chief since 2013 and was one of the group's most influential leaders, according to the agency.
Jilib is considered Al-Shabaab's main stronghold in southern Somalia and has been frequently targeted in operations against senior members.
