MOGADISHU, 9 October 2026 The Federal Government of Somalia has condemned attacks it attributed to the Houthi group on Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia, which reportedly resulted in civilian deaths and injuries.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Somali government described the attacks as a serious violation of international law and a threat to Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and regional security.
Somalia also expressed solidarity with Riyadh, saying security in the Gulf region and the Red Sea was closely linked to Somalia’s own national security.

Given Somalia’s coastline along the Red Sea, the government called for an immediate halt to attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, warning that such strikes endangered civilian lives and regional stability.
The Somali government also extended its condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
