MOGADISHU, 28 September 2026 — Somalia’s Ministry of Finance on Sunday held a public consultation meeting in Mogadishu as part of preparations for the country’s 2027 national budget.
The meeting presented initial budget plans for the coming year, with a focus on increasing domestic revenue, supporting economic growth and strengthening the government’s financial self-reliance.
The Deputy Director of the Budget Department at the Ministry of Finance explained the various stages involved in preparing the annual budget, including public consultations, the submission of budget proposals by government institutions and subsequent review and approval through the country’s constitutional institutions.

The ministry said that while government revenue and the national economy remain limited, efforts are underway to ensure that the annual budget reflects the government’s development priorities and national plans.
Participants also held discussions and exchanged data and figures on budget priorities and the government’s planned programmes for 2027.
