Somalia, 20 May 2026 Somalia’s Ministry of Education has announced that national secondary school examinations will take place June 20-25, 2026.
In a statement posted on social media on Wednesday, the ministry informed students, teachers, school administrators and parents that preparations were underway for the annual national examinations, which thousands of students across Somalia are expected to sit.
“The Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education shares with students, teachers, administrators, parents and the entire education community that this year’s national examinations will be conducted from June 20 to June 25, 2026,” the ministry said.

Last year, Somalia’s national Form Four examinations began on June 14, with 38,471 students sitting the exams countrywide.
Official results released by the ministry showed that 32,714 students passed the examinations, while 5,757 failed, highlighting the competitive nature of the exams and the pressure facing students preparing for this year’s tests.
Somalia has in recent years said it expanded efforts to strengthen the national examination system as part of broader reforms aimed at improving education standards, oversight and accountability across the country.
The annual national examinations are taken by secondary school students from multiple federal member states and regions and are used to determine graduation eligibility and access to higher education opportunities.
