MOGADISHU, 11 October 2026 Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Abdulfatah Kasim Mohamud, met Robert Flannery, the U.S. East Africa Counterterrorism Program Adviser, at his office on Saturday, to discuss cooperation in strategic communications and counterterrorism messaging.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in public awareness, countering terrorist propaganda and extremist ideologies, and coordinating government messaging related to counterterrorism efforts.
Minister Abdulfatah Kasim Mohamud stressed the importance of developing a unified media strategy, implementing effective public awareness campaigns and strengthening cooperation between the two countries. He said these measures could help Somali communities access accurate information and improve public understanding of and participation in counterterrorism efforts.
