Amman — Somalia’s Minister of Defence Ahmed Moallim Fiqi met Jordan Armed Forces Chief Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti to discus expanding military cooperation in training, capacity-building, expertise exchange and counterterrorism.
The meeting, held on Tuesday at the General Command headquarters of the Jordanian Armed Forces in Amman, formed part of an official visit by Minister Fiqi to Jordan. The two sides reviewed regional and international security developments, existing challenges and opportunities to strengthen defence relations between the two countries.
Minister Fiqi and General Al-Huneiti agreed on the importance of maintaining regular communication and cooperation across different military sectors to enhance defence capabilities, operational readiness and regional stability.

General Al-Huneiti said Somalia and Jordan enjoy strong relations, adding that military cooperation is an important pillar in strengthening defence capabilities and supporting peace and stability in the region.
The meeting comes as the government continues efforts to broaden defence cooperation with partner countries, with the aim of building a national army capable of assuming full responsibility for the country’s security.
