Mogadishu, 15 September Somalia and Egypt have launched a four-day workshop in Mogadishu on detecting financial violations, as part of efforts to strengthen financial oversight and protect public assets.
The Office of the Auditor General of Somalia and Egypt's Accountability State Authority are holding the workshop titled "Strategies and Skills for Detecting Financial Violations."
The workshop, running from September 14 to 17, 2026, focuses on identifying financial irregularities, assessing risks of fraud and misconduct, and strengthening investigative and evidence-gathering techniques.
Somalia's Deputy Auditor General, Mukhtar Mohamed Abukar, who opened the workshop, said building the capacity of auditors is essential to protecting public assets.
"Strengthening the capacity of auditors to detect financial violations and fraud risks is an important part of protecting public assets," Mukhtar said.

He said the training would help participants improve their ability to assess risks, obtain relevant evidence and report investigation findings.
The workshop is the second joint programme between the audit institutions of Somalia and Egypt to be held in Mogadishu within a year.
In July 2026, the two countries held a training programme on anti-corruption strategies, covering the impact of corruption, good governance, and legal and institutional approaches to preventing corruption.
The latest initiative reflects continued technical cooperation between the two countries as they seek to strengthen financial oversight, accountability and professional capacity within their respective audit institutions.
