Mogadishu, 27 August 2026 - Somalia's Senate ethics committee has warned 20 of the chamber's 54 senators over absence from a session, according to a letter dated Aug. 26.
The Committee on Regulations, Ethics, Immunity and Welfare of Senators said the 20 failed to attend the first sitting of the eighth session on Aug. 26.
Senators are required to attend sessions and carry out responsibilities under the chamber's rules, the committee said, warning that continued absence could lead to disciplinary measures under internal regulations.

The letter was signed by committee chairman Abdiweli Mohamed Ibrahim Habsade.
The 20 senators named are Abdi Ahmed Dhuhulow (Dhagdheer), Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud (Farole), Abdisamad Yusuf Mohamed (Abwaan), Abdirisaq Mohamed Osman, Dahir Ayale Said, Huseen Mahamed Daahir, Farhan Ali Mohamud, Fartun Abdikadir Farah Karama, Farhan Ali Hussein, Hassan Dahir Yarow, Hassan Idow Muhumed (Kobac), Leyla Ahmed Ismail, Maryan Farah Kahiye, Abdi Abdullahi Hashi (Goley), Abdi Ismail Samatar, Said Sayid Shirwac, Samira Mohamud Haji, Ahmed Mohamed Said, Abdihakim Moalim Ahmed Malin and Salah Ahmed Jama.
