Ethiopia, 15 October 2025 — Somali Regional State (SRS), has donated 10 vehicles to persons with disabilities as part of ongoing efforts to improve mobility and access to essential services for vulnerable groups.
According to a statement from the SRS press office on Tuesday, the recipients were selected from five sub-districts of Jigjiga City, in coordination with authorities at various levels to ensure that support reaches those most in need.
“Although there is high demand for vehicles and it is challenging to deliver them to all those in need at once, the Social Affairs Office, in collaboration with the Jigjiga City Administration, strives to provide continuous support to people with special needs,” said Mohamed Abdirahman, Head of the Social Affairs Office.
The source of funding for the vehicles was not disclosed. Additionally, there is no official information from the regional government or the Jigjiga City Administration regarding the total number of people with special needs living in the city.
