A high-level delegation from the Somali Regional State (SRS), led by the Minister of Trade and Transport, Cabdixakiin Shiikh Xasan Cali, has paid an official visit to Djibouti. The visit came following an official invitation from the Djibouti Ports Authority.
The delegation included the Minister of Investment and Industry of the Somali Regional State, Axmed Rashiid, the Mayor of Jigjiga, Shaafi Axmed Macalin, members from the Jigjiga Chamber of Commerce, and business representatives from Somali Regional State.
The primary goal of the visit was to enhance economic and trade cooperation between Somali Regional State and Djibouti, with a specific focus on boosting cross-border trade, facilitating investment, and expanding economic opportunities for both sides.

"The purpose of our visit was to exchange experiences, as our trade is largely dependent on Djibouti. We aimed to meet with business communities, share insights, and further strengthen the trade ties between Somali Regional State and Djibouti." said the Minister of Trade and Transport.
The SRS administration described this visit as a strategic step towards strengthening bilateral trade cooperation. They emphasized that it presents a major opportunity to promote border trade, ease the movement of goods, and develop economic infrastructure.
This new cooperation is expected to have a significant impact on the economic growth of both sides, as Djibouti serves as a crucial gateway for the Somali Regional State (SRS) with its well-developed ports and commercial infrastructure.
