Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre held a meeting today with Heiko Nitzschke, Germany’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, to discuss key areas of cooperation and achievements in Somalia’s development.
The meeting underscored the growing partnership between Somalia and Germany, with a shared commitment to advancing regional stability.
During the meeting, Mr. Nitzschke congratulated Somalia on notable achievements over the past two years, including securing debt relief, joining the East African Community (EAC), and Somalia's recent election to the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-2026 term.
These milestones reflect Somalia’s steady progress in re-engaging on the international stage.
Prime Minister Barre expressed appreciation for Germany’s long-standing support and commended Mr. Nitzschke for his efforts in promoting peace and stability across the Horn of Africa. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to furthering Somalia-Germany relations, with a focus on collaborative efforts to address shared interests in regional security and development.
The meeting highlights Somalia’s ongoing diplomatic engagements to strengthen partnerships that bolster its national goals and promote peace in the wider region.
