Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – The Somali Police Force announced on Sunday the seizure of two containers containing large quantities of illegal drugs, including 17 cartons of Tramadol, 112 cartons of Pregabalin, and 120 cartons of Codeine, with an estimated street value of half a million dollars.
Somali Police Spokesperson Abdifitah Aadan Hassan confirmed that the drugs were smuggled into the country using covert methods, hidden inside containers shipped into Mogadishu on Saturday.
Hassan emphasized that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in drug trafficking, stating, "From now on, anyone involved in bringing or distributing drugs, as well as those responsible for smuggling such harmful substances into the country, will be held accountable. Those behind this drug trade, worth half a million dollars, which aims to destroy the future of Somalia's youth, will face legal consequences."
The spokesperson further highlighted that the Somali Police Force will continue its efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating within the country. This seizure is part of the ongoing campaign to combat the illegal drug trade and safeguard Somali society from the destructive impact of narcotics.
