Somalia, 2 June 2026 - Somalia Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre appointed a board for the National Disaster Risk Management Fund to oversee disaster response, government spokesperson Abdinasir Ahmed Bashir on Tuesday.
The board will be chaired by Interior Minister Ali Yusuf Ali ‘Ali Hosh’, with Finance Minister Bihi Iman Egeh serving as deputy chair.
The members include Planning Minister Mohamud Abdirahman Sheikh Farah ‘Beenebeene’, Livestock Minister Hassan Hussein Mohamed ‘Hassan Eelay’, Environment Minister Bashir Mohamed Jama ‘Bashir Goobe’, Health Minister Ali Haji Adam, Commerce and Industry Minister Jamaal Mohamed Hassan, and State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Hirsi Jama Gani.

The board also includes SoDMA Commissioner Mahmoud Moalim Abdulle, representatives from the Somali Council of Religious Scholars, the Somali Chamber of Commerce, Hormuud Salaam Foundation and civil society groups.
Abdullahi Mohamud Diriye, director of the National Disaster Risk Management Fund, was appointed secretary of the board.
According to the decree, the board will oversee the fund, approve its strategy, monitor its management, lead fundraising efforts, strengthen cooperation with the private sector and civil society, and approve financial and operational reports.
