Somalia, 20 April 2026 - Somalia's opposition politicians are meeting in Mogadishu to discuss political transition and elections.
The meeting, hosted at the headquarters of the Himilo Qaran party, is focused on the country’s political direction, particularly the transitional phase and electoral process, according to the party.
Reports indicate that participants include former prime ministers and members of parliament, although a full list of attendees has not been officially confirmed.

According to organizers the consultations will also traditional elders and representatives from the civil society, as part of broader efforts to build consensus on key political issues.
The meeting is scheduled to run until Friday, with participants likely to issue recommendations and proposals addressing the political situation and the electoral process.
The development comes as Mogadishu witnesses an increase in political activity, following the recent return of several politicians to the country, signaling a renewed phase of engagement ahead of key political decisions.
