MUQDISHO – Somalia’s government plans to rebuild Sabiib and Bariire bridges in Lower Shabelle, whose collapse has disrupted transport and agricultural trade.
Public Works Minister Ayub Ismail Yusuf led discussions on Saturday between relevant ministries to agree on a plan to rebuild the bridges.
During the meeting, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture said the destruction of the bridges has hindered the transportation of crops to markets and access to essential services, directly affecting the livelihoods of farmers.

The meeting also focused a long-term plan to strengthen critical infrastructure, with further high-level meetings expected to coordinate efforts among government institutions and the private sector.
The officials stated that rebuilding the Sabiib and Bariire bridges is a national priority to restore connectivity and boost economic activity, particularly in agricultural areas.
